Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, will open another 10 locations in the Ottawa region over the next five years. In Ottawa since 1980, and currently, with eight locations, the brand will expand thanks to a sweet partnership it has nurtured with franchisees Ronnie Liu and Lina Qu. Independently and in tandem, the duo operates a total of five franchises and will add these ten to their portfolio.
“With more than 78 years of experience internationally, 52 in Canada, Baskin-Robbins clearly has a winning recipe when it comes to pleasing its guests,” says Lina Qu. “We’ve seen this firsthand and it’s why we’ve made the choices we’ve made and allowed ourselves to dream of bringing more Baskin-Robbins to more people in the years to come.”
Qu and Liu opened their fifth Baskin-Robbins location this fall in Barrhaven, a southern suburb of Ottawa (3171 Strandherd Drive). The next ten are expected to be located in premium locations in Ottawa.
“Ice cream has a special place in our world,” says Natalie Joseph, spokesperson for Baskin-Robbins Canada. “With Lina, Ronnie and our other franchise partners in the region, we’ve been able to bring more smiles and choices to Ottawa’s residents and many visitors. There’s a great opportunity to expand in the region, and the country – and we’re happy to expand with our existing franchisees.”
The new locations, which can range from 1000 sq. ft. to 1200 sq. ft., reflect the brand’s popular Moments design featuring bright colours, new dipping cabinets, mixed seating options, and crisp, simplified digital menu boards.
Part of Inspire Brands since 2020, Baskin-Robbins expects to open another 50 locations across Canada by 2030. To do so, it continues to invite passionate entrepreneurs to join its roster of successful franchise partners. To learn about franchising opportunities, visit baskinrobbins.ca/franchising.
