La Cage Takes Over Old St-Hubert Near Bell Centre

An interior shot of a modern sports bar and restaurant with a large circular logo on a brick wall reading "BRASSERIE LA CAGE SPORTIVE 19 84". Above the bar, bright red neon signs spell out "BRASSERIE SPORTIVE", and numerous bottles line the dark metal shelves. Black metal bar stools sit along the wooden counter illuminated from underneath.

A 10-year lease brings a new sports bar to Windsor Station in spring 2027, but St-Hubert’s departure was not a failed restaurant story.

La Cage is heading to Windsor Station, where an 11,000-square-foot sports bar is planned for spring 2027. Groupe Grandio has signed a 10-year lease for the former St-Hubert rotisserie space at the corner of Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal and Stanley Street, a short walk from the Bell Centre. The opening, first expected this fall, is now planned for spring 2027.

With hockey fever building, the location has an obvious draw: fans can meet for food, drinks and screens before or after a Canadiens game without going far from the arena. La Cage already operates inside the Bell Centre, but this is an additional location, not a replacement. That raises a question: can downtown demand support two outlets of the same sports-bar brand nearly side by side?

But did St-Hubert fail? The available reporting doesn’t suggest that. The rotisserie operated at Windsor Station for about 20 years and closed in October 2019 after its lease was not renewed; St-Hubert said it couldn’t agree on new terms and customer traffic had held up despite years of nearby construction. The space then remained vacant for years. La Cage now gets a fresh shot at this downtown location, with hockey nearby and a decade-long lease.
