Montreal’s annual restaurant event returns October 29 to November 15, and this year 165 restaurants are taking part. That is a lot of menus to browse, with around 50 restaurants joining the event for the first time. If you’ve been meaning to try somewhere new, or need an excuse to revisit a favourite, this is a good time to start looking.
The formula is straightforward: participating restaurants offer prix-fixe dinner menus at $38, $55, $70 or $90 for three or four courses. Some restaurants also offer brunch, with a main dish and a specialty beverage for $28. The menus vary by restaurant, so it is worth checking what’s included before booking rather than assuming every price gets you the same experience.
For me, the best part is having a reason to look beyond the usual reservation list. MTLàTABLE can make a special-occasion restaurant feel more approachable, or introduce you to a neighbourhood spot you have been meaning to try. The trick is to browse the menus first, find something that appeals to you, and reserve directly with the restaurant. With 165 places involved, there should be plenty to explore without treating this as a race to book the fanciest table.
