Ferreira Café leads the pack for Montréal en Lumiere straight from Portugal

Every year when the list of culinary participants for Montréal en Lumiere comes out, I scan about the different restaurants and see which new ones I’d like to explore.

Enter Ferreira Café, which on Friday, March 1 will host restaurateur Leandro Mota and his chef Leonardo Costa from Canastra do Fidalgo located in Costa Nova, Portugal, along with winemaker Carlos Campolargo from the same region.  They will offer special festive lunch and dinner menus.

MTLàTABLE: Lloyd at the Marriott Château Champlain offers a superb four-course table d’hôte menu for just $83

This year, Lloyd sets itself apart with an exclusive four-course table d’hôte menu for just $83 per person, an offer that promises to satisfy local foodies. Lloyd’s talented chef, Kevin Mougin, is ready to dazzle guests with his exceptional culinary creativity. His cuisine harmoniously blends local and international flavors to create unique and memorable dishes. Lloyd’s special Montréal à Table 2023 menu features a selection of starters, main courses and desserts, highlighting seasonal ingredients and local produce.

MTLàTABLE: The iconic Chez Lévêque has been a Montreal landmark for more than 50 years

Just over 50 years ago, Pierre Lévêque became the owner of La Lucarne, a small steak house on Laurier Avenue, already elegantly adorned with warm, inviting storefronts. The name changed to Chez Lévêque and a Montreal landmark was born. Still in the hands of the Lévêque family, this Parisian Brasserie continues to shine with a menu very much taking on a Lyon, France vibe. I was therefore quite pleased to experience this place for the very first time.

For many years, Kyo Bar Japonais has been on our radar screen to try. We finally made that happen recently and it was everything we expected and more. Located in Old Montreal and opened in the summer of 2023, Kyo Bar Japonais immerses you in the frenzied vibe of an Izakaya with the hushed atmosphere of a sushi bar, with a list of over 25 sakés.
