The wait is finally over. If you grew up believing treats should feel a little magical and still get that thrill when a bakery box is opened, this is your moment. Whether you’re hunting for donuts worthy of a celebration or simply craving a serious sugar fix close to the West Island, the arrival of Homers Donut Box, known in French as Homers Boîte à Beignes, has answered your sweet tooth. Bursting with color, creativity, and pure indulgence, it’s a whimsical rabbit hole of sugary delight. Locals, however, keep it simple: they just call it Homers.
Mike Cohen previously spotlighted Homers Donuts founder Terry Axiotis and the vision fueling the brand’s rapid growth since its early spring 2024 opening on Sherbrooke Street West in NDG. What began as a single Montreal donut shop quickly expanded to Brossard, Laval, Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, Quebec City, Terrebonne, Gatineau, Blainville, Chateauguay, and now Dollard des Ormeaux, with the Greater Toronto Area next on the expansion map. Best known for its handmade daily donuts, offered in up to 30 flavors, the original NDG location soon expanded to include seating, milkshakes, coffee, and donut-based sandwiches to meet nonstop lineups and rising demand.
A Park Extension native, Axiotis began his food industry career at McDonald’s before running Subway and Boustan franchises, where the idea for Homers was born. Inspired by Bernie Beigne and recognizing an opening in the non-franchised donut market, he refined his concept and launched a brand that became an instant success.
With all the buzz surrounding Homers, I had to experience it firsthand. Coming from a baking background, this first visit felt almost nostalgic, driven by a desire to find something playful, festive, and a delicous to surprise my sister with. In the past, my favorite Bomboloni donut shop would have been my automatic choice, but seeing those once-special donuts now sitting frozen in grocery store freezers has stripped away much of the original magic. Krispy Kreme still offers a sense of comfort, like visiting an old friend, but Homers is playing a completely different game, operating in its own bold, unapologetic donut universe.
Walking in felt like stepping into an Adult Swim cartoon. The outside world vanished instantly, replaced by a hyper-colored sensory playground fueled by sugar and imagination. Lights, bold colors, and over-the-top donuts collide into a playful overload that somehow works perfectly. It’s vibrant without being chaotic, loud without being noisy, and just quirky enough to be unforgettable. Homers isn’t just a donut shop; it’s a full-blown sugar dreamscape blending pop culture and pure indulgent fun.
The donuts themselves are what childhood dreams are made of. Oversized, cloud-soft, and unapologetically indulgent, they strike the perfect balance between comfort and creativity. One bite pauses conversation and sparks smiles—everything else fades away. Homers doesn’t just raise the bar for donuts; it redefines the entire experience.
The atmosphere pulls you in from the moment you step through the door. Colors pop, laughter fills the space, and the energy feels like a mashup of birthday parties and old-school arcades. Donuts tower like edible works of art, layered with swirls, sprinkles, and imaginative toppings. Arcade games hum quietly in the background, tempting you to linger longer.
Standing in line, my baking background had me thinking about mixers, fryers, and dough, yet these donuts felt different, as if sprinkled with a secret magic. Smiling before even taking a bite is rare—but these delivered.

The display dazzles, each donut gleaming under the lights. Choosing which to try first is the real challenge. The menu reads like a sugar-fueled fantasy: handcrafted, fresh, soft, and endlessly inventive. The signature Homers donut lives up to its name, with pink frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and pure cartoon-inspired joy in every bite.
Other favorites include Biscoff donuts with their spiced cookie charm, Cookie Monster donuts packed with playful blueish fun, and Érable donuts celebrating maple sweetness. Chocolate lovers can dive into Choco Glacé or Choco Croquant, while Nutella and Reese’s creations blend chocolate and peanut butter in ways that vanish fast. Crème Boston and Crème Brûlée donuts bring dessert-level indulgence, rich and familiar.
For the adventurous, options keep scrolling like a cinematic crawl. Cheesecake donuts come with blueberry, strawberry, or lemon toppings. Pistachio offers a nutty twist, and Bacon provides the irresistible sweet-and-savory balance. Fruity Pebbles donuts layer colorful cereal crunch for pure nostalgic chaos.

Choosing a donut at Homers feels like stepping into a storybook and picking your favorite characters. Each one promises a burst of joy, a playful spark of wonder, and just the right touch of mischief. Some tempt you with familiar flavors that take you back to simpler times, while others dare you to try something bold, colorful, and unexpected. If donuts speak your love language and the sweet pull of childhood memories still lingers, Homers is more than a treat; it’s the upgrade you didn’t know you were waiting for, a place where every bite tells a story and every choice feels like an adventure.
Rolling up to my sister’s house with a box of these treats felt like a triumphant explorer returning from a candy-coated kingdom. Each bite sparkled like a gem, each donut a miniature crown of indulgence. Everyone dove in eagerly, while a few milder sugar-coated options teased the hesitant. It was a merry celebration of whimsical sweetness, leaving giggles, happy sighs, and delightfully sticky fingers in its wake.
Homers is tucked away at 40 Brunswick Blvd #102 in Dollard-Des Ormeaux. With roughly 30 donut varieties, playful milkshakes, coffee and refreshing beverages, there’s truly something for everyone, guaranteed to awaken your inner child and leave a big smile on your stomach. One visit, and you may never see donuts the same way again.
